18-karat gold Apple Watch will set you back $5,000

At its Keynote event in September, Apple CEO Tim Cook said prices for the company’s upcoming watch would start at $349 but didn’t reveal any other details.

Now, a reliable source familiar with Apple’s plans has told the French website iGen.fr, the Apple Watch will cost $500 for a gorgeous stainless steel smartwatch, the Apple Watch Sport which will come in aluminum and glass build will start at $349 while an 18-Karat gold build with Sapphire glass will set customers back $5,000.

The reports also mentioned that the Apple’s first wearable would launch on Valentine’s Day (February 14). The iGen.fr reported earlier that Apple was working on two iPhone 6 models and the news came true. So, we also hope that the reports on prices will also be accurate.

Earlier this week, Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s senior Vice President of online and retail stores told employees that Apple Watch will be available in holiday season, it will be available only after Chinese New Year and then she said they’ve got a new watch launch coming in the spring.

Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the watch at a keynote event in September, but he too didn’t mention the exact launch date and said it will be available early next year. The French website interestingly mentioned that Apple watch would be lucky to ship before Valentine’s Day.

Apple is not satisfied with the wearable’s battery life and working on it so that the device will be more functional once it’s released early next year. Other smartwatches on the market such as Pebble and MetaWatch, have a week lasting battery on a single charge.

The watch will be compatible with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. if the Apple Watch is going to be a hit, it wants to make sure that there are enough apps for the platform. So let’s hope that our wrists will be rocking the Apple Watch before April.
