Apple Provides developers with iOS 8 beta 3: Here’s what’s new

Apple seeded beta 3 of iOS 8 on Monday to registered developers of its iOS developer program, which brings a number of improvements, changes, and bug fixes to the beta software that was unveiled last month at the Worldwide Developers Conference.

The update, build number 12A4318c is available through Apple’s over-the-air updating tool o iOS devices and can also be downloaded via the iOS Dev Center. Here’s what new in iOS 8 beta 3.

  • Handoff:

    there’s a new toggle for Handoff in Settings>General. Handoff enables users to seamlessly switch between your iPhone, iPad and Mac without interrupting your work flow.

  • Find My friends:

    iOS Beta brings a new version of the Find my friends and Find my iPhone apps. Find My Friends allows you to move your friends list to an iCloud account.

  • iCloud Drive:

     there’s a new popup window in beta 3 which allows you to upgrade to iCloud Drive. Introduced at WWDC, iCloud drive lets users store any type of file in iCloud and access it using iOS 8.

  • QuickType Keyboard:

    there’s a new option in the keyboards section of the General menu in the Settings app that lets you enable or disable QuickType.

  • Wallpapers:

    Wallpaper gallery gets new wallpapers.

  • App Analytics:

    a new opt-in screen allows users to share crash data with app developers along with statistics about how apps are used.

  • Photos:

    shared Photo Streams are now renamed Shared Albums. There’s a new indicator for the number of days left before recently deleted photos get permanently removed.

  • Messages:

    option to automatically keep photos and videos sent/received in Messages.

  • Wi-Fi calling:

    iOS beta 3 adds Wi-Fi calling allowing T-Mobile users with iOS beta 3 to make phone calls over Wi-Fi.

  • Notification Center:

    Tweaked Clear button in Notification Center.
