EcoXGear EcoStone: A Waterproof Bluetooth speaker for outdoor enthusiasts

We’ve already looked at a couple of rechargeable Bluetooth speakers that are portable too, such as Samsung’s compact Bluetooth speaker, ASWY’s and Om Audio’s Levitating Bluetooth speakers. But most of them are classified as just water-resistant or splash-resistant instead as “waterproof” speakers. They aren’t waterproof- a small splash of water could spoil your entire music system.

Not so with Grace Digital’s EcoXGear EcoStone Bluetooth speaker. In addition to being water resistant, it is 100% waterproof so stop worrying if gets dropped in the pool or falls off the boat.

The EcoStone even floats with the speakers facing upward, so you can actually use it for a hip hop pool, patio or beach party. For $149, the EcoStone is waterproof, shockproof, and even snowproof. The device features a convenient handle and weighs 1.58 pounds, so it is easy to carry around. It’s got twin 3.5” integrated drivers powered by 12 watts of power each as well as a rear mounted 4” subwoofer. It includes a top-mounted battery indicator with a four-step LED battery and an optional mounting bracket for hooking the speaker to your bike, tent, backpack or car.

The San Diego-based company claims that this latest speaker from  EcoXGear is certified by IP68 international waterproofing standard and military grade testing which means it can survive anything from being 100% dunked in water to a sandstorm in a desert with temperatures up to 140˚F and still play music. It recharges through a micro USB port, and has a USB outlet for juicing up your smartphones.

The internal battery supports 12 hours of battery life. Two foot rests keep the speaker in place on any flat surface, while large ribs along the sides of the EcoStone’s chassis should protect it from minor bumps and drops. Other peripherals include Bluetooth pairing, volume, track, and play/pause/call controls. It is available in Black, Orange, Blue and Camo variants.

Simply put, the EcoStone speaker delivers a loud, full sound with crisp highs and clear vocals most portable Bluetooth speakers can’t touch.
