Gmail has finally rolled out a new Gmail app – version 3.1415926 for iOS in order to optimize it for the larger displays on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Previously iPhone users noticed that a lot of iOS apps were still intended for a 4-inch panel, but Google has fixed that with support for the new, larger phone displays.
Also, the enlarged UI would show only around six messages in the Gmail inbox at one time. Following the update, the app takes advantage of the extra space by allowing you to see more of your inbox and emails. Everything from navigating your messages to reading and replying to them is much easier, and of course, you get the latest keyboard rather than an old one expanded.
The new Gmail update also comes with a few tweaks and bug fixes that users of new Apple smartphones would really appreciate. For instance, Google has fixed the problem of fuzzy text that some early reviews complained about when using Gmail due to a zoomed view on the bigger screens.
The updated version makes full use of the Retina HD display, providing more clarity for users. Other than that, though, the Gmail app for iOS is effectively the same as it was before. You can download the Gmail version 3.1415926 for free from the App Store.
