Lenono is all set to launch its Beacon Home Cloud at CES 2014. Beacon is a personal cloud solution that provides the physical storage unit for safe keeping at home. Lenovo has assured its users that the device will be always on and will allow its users to upload and play media content via PC, smartphone, tablet and even TV if its hardware supports it.
The Lenovo Beacon comes with 1 GB of storage natively built-in. There is also integrated WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G and Ethernet connectivity. Both wireless and USB connectivity is offered in Beacon to transfer or share files. The availability of custom app in Beacon allows for use of a mobile device as a remote control to play multimedia content on a television connected to Beacon via HDMI.
Beacon comes preloaded with XBMC, while dual HDD bays will support up to a heady 6TB of storage. There should not be much consumption in terms of energy as Beacon runs on an Intel Atom dual-core processor. Lenovo is expected to fully unveil Beacon at CES 2014. Beacon will be available in two colors black and white and its price will be $199 USD.
