With the introduction of 3D printers, printable circuits and other automated systems, printing fully functional products is soon becoming a reality. The lamp in the picture is just a flat piece of cardboard with circuits printed on it. All you need to do is supply electricity and it will hold itself into a lamp. Also, it has got a touch sensor to turn it on.
Harvard researchers presented the project ‘Self-assembling sensors for printable machines’ at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation last Tuesday in Hong Kong. Well, it is not fully printable, LED and wires had to linked in by hand. Also, there is an Arduino off-screen taking care of controlling it.
It takes a long time to assemble the lamp so the video is sped up.
