Secrets of the World’s Oldest People [Infographic]

Thanks to modern technology and medicine, people are living longer than ever. The average life expectancy is higher than it has ever been, and people are enjoying life to a ripe old age. But there are two groups of people that take longevity to a whole new level.

Centenarians are folks that are aged 100 years or older and supercentenarians are people that have made it to 110 and over. The best way to ensure a good long life is, of course, being healthy, but these people have hit the jackpot. So what’s their secret? It isn’t clear and it looks like not everyone follows the same path.  For instance, Jean Calment, the oldest person on record in recent history and supercentenarian, lived 122 years and 164 days.  Yet, she smoked for over 100 years!  The majority of centenarians had some interesting traits: they were religious, strong willed, and had relatively small body frames.

These folks spent their lives being the best they could be, and that’s something we can all do. Take a look at this infographic for more on the secrets of the oldest people; you might be able to pick up some pointers.  How long do you think people could live to with modern technology?
