Starting today, all those who visit two of Japanese tech firm SoftBank’s retail stores will be greeted by the world’s friendliest robots. These robots are a new humanoid model and are dubbed ‘Pepper’ by SoftBank. Also, they contain something called an emotional engine. The CEO of SoftBank, Masayoshi Son said that for the first time in human history, they were giving a robot a heart and emotions.
Pepper can understand your needs as well as emotions when you speak to it. And, the robot comes with its own app store which allows its owners to personalize their humanoid robot assistants.
Now, let us come to the price. Leaving tax and add-ons, Pepper is estimated to cost $1,930. Although, these robots will be available in the SoftBank stores today, they’ll be commercially available only from Feb 2015. Till then, SoftBank will continue programming each Pepper robot that will be emotionally sensitive.
