Flappy Bird, a modern classic app that almost everyone has an opinion on. Love it or hate it, Flappy Bird has made an impression this 2014, and we’re only two months in! Created by a single man Vietnam and a true testament to mankind’s cruelty, Flappy Bird is a game we won’t soon forget.
An overnight sensation and topping the app store charts in over 100 countries worldwide, Flappy Bird had stolen our hearts. Flappy Bird’s dead little eyes and unsmiling beak intrigued us, and before we knew it we were sucked into one of the most unsatisfying, hard to play, and frustrating games of all time. Game play was so unpredictable that users began to speculate that it was bots that determined success, since there was no obvious strategy to win.
Twitter blew up with players venting their rage and frustration from the app until the one fateful day in early February. Flappy Bird’s creator, Dong Nguyen, announced over Twitter in under 140 characters that he would be removing Flappy Bird from app stores. The thousands upon thousands of hate mail and death threats must have gotten to him.
