Vine and porn don’t mix, Twitter will not tolerate any pornographic content

Twitter has changed its content policy to boot out explicit and pornographic content from Vine, a service that allows users to share 6-second looping videos on Thursday.

“As we’ve watched the community and your creativity grow and evolve, we’ve found that there’s a very small percentage of videos that are not a good fit for our community. So we’re making an update to our Rules and Terms of Service to prohibit explicit sexual content,” the company said in a blog post.

Vine and porn don’t mix
Twitter in its separate post explained the sexual content. It said that sex acts, nudity that is pornographic in nature and even “close-ups of aroused genitals underneath clothing” was no longer allowed on Vine. However, nudity that has documentary context like nude protests or nudity that was not sex-related like breastfeeding has been allowed.

Unlike facebook, twitter does not restrict any kind of a nude content from its users. Twitter are allowed to post any sorts of content after specifying it as sensitive or adult. The fact is that websites like Pornhub use twitter to share and advertise explicit content.

However, according to Twitters latest move on Vine shows it will not tolerate any kind of an explicit content in its website. The company said that users who will post pornographic Vines would be suspended.

“If you see a video that violates our updated policy, you can report it by tapping the button with three dots below the post and selecting Report This Post,” the company said.

Apple is also a company that believes in keeping explicit content outside its app store and that was a reason last year Vine got in trouble with Apple. Since that, time twitter has been working on restricting pornographic content on Vine. Twitter earlier removed ability to search for Vines using explicit keywords. This step of Twitter will help it make this social networking giant more sophisticated.
